| The Murals of West Seattle was an inspiration of many long time West Seattle residents, and
spear-headed by Earl Cruzen. In partnership with the Junction Development Committee (now the Junction Business Improvement Association, or BIA)
and the City of Seattle's Neighborhood Grants Program, funding was raised. The task of preparing the surfaces, and finding the artists
who would forever capture pieces of West Seattle's past, began to take shape. Many local business owners also contributed to the funds
in securing artists and or donating wall space on buildings. Upon completion, 11 murals brought color and order to the blank
canvass walls. In 1992, the Murals of West Seattle won a national Neighborhood of the Year Award from Neighborhoods, USA. |
